Reconnecting the Threads: Theology as Sacramental Tapestry

Abstract
In this short essay, I would like to introduce some of the main ideas that motivate and underlie my recent book, Heavenly Participation. First, I will present some of the background to this book—how it is that the various bits of the argument made their way into the final product. I figure that usually one can tell quite a bit about a book if one knows what it is that motivated the author to write it and why he has written in the particular way that he has. Then, on the assumption that the front cover of the book tells the reader what it’s all about, I thought it might also be helpful if I related something both about the artwork on the cover and about each of the main words in the title.
